Cookie Policy

1. What Cookies Are

1.1.Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Similar technology, such as “local storage”, works in the same way. Some are needed for a website to work. Others, such as analytics, are optional and we only use them if you agree.

1.2.When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. “Accept” and “Reject” are equally easy to choose, and nothing optional runs until you choose Accept.

2. Strictly Necessary

•az_consent (az-cars.co.uk, 6 months): remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don’t ask on every page.

•Booking form session cookie (az-cars.co.uk, name is a random code, deleted when you close your browser): set by the online booking form on our Book Now page so your quote and booking details are kept as you go through the form.

•persist:qlwapp:2 (local storage on your device, until you clear it): set by the WhatsApp chat button to remember whether the chat box is open. It contains no personal information.

2.1.Our website does not set any other cookies when you browse it. We do not use advertising cookies on our pages (see section 4 for the booking form).

3. Analytics (Only If You Accept)

3.1.We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use our site, for example which pages are hard to use, through heatmaps and session recordings of clicks, scrolling and page movement. By default, Clarity masks what you type into form fields. If you accept, Microsoft sets these:

•_clck (az-cars.co.uk, 1 year): keeps a random Clarity user ID and your preferences for this site.

•_clsk (az-cars.co.uk, 1 day): connects the pages you view into one visit.

•_cltk (session storage on your device, until you close the tab): used by Clarity during your visit.

•CLID (clarity.ms, 1 year): identifies the first time Clarity saw this browser.

•MUID (clarity.ms and bing.com, about 13 months): a Microsoft ID for this browser, used by Microsoft for analytics and operational purposes.

•MR, SM, SRM_B and ANONCHK (clarity.ms and bing.com, from a few minutes up to 13 months): used by Microsoft to keep the MUID up to date across its sites. Clarity does not use them for advertising.

3.2.We tell Clarity that advertising storage is not allowed. If you reject or later withdraw consent, Clarity stops, and we delete the _clck and _clsk cookies. Cookies set on Microsoft’s own domains can only be cleared in your browser settings (see section 6).

3.3.Microsoft keeps most Clarity recordings for 30 days, and a small sample of recordings plus summary data such as heatmaps for up to 9 months. Read more in Microsoft’s privacy statement.

4. Content From Other Companies

4.1.Some parts of our pages are loaded from other companies’ servers. This means they receive your device’s IP address, but in our tests they did not set cookies:

•Google Fonts – the typefaces used on our pages.

•Trustindex – shows our Google reviews, with reviewers’ profile pictures loaded from Google. It loads once you start scrolling.

•Online booking system – the quote and booking form on our Book Now page is provided by a third-party supplier and shown inside our page. It may use its own cookies and analytics. When we checked it, it loaded Google Maps (for address search) and a Google advertising measurement script, and it did not set cookies when the form first loaded.

4.2.If you message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy apply.

5. Changing Your Choice

5.1.You can change your mind at any time. Click the Cookie settings button at the top of this page, or the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of any page, then choose Accept or Reject.

5.2.Rejecting analytics does not affect bookings, quotes or anything else on the site.

6. Browser Controls

6.1.You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Help is available for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. If you block all cookies, the booking form may not work – you can always book by phone instead.

7. Changes and Contact
